The Springs Golf Club, which is affiliated to the England Golf & the English Women’s Golf Association, offers a wide variety of competitive and social golf. It caters for all standards of golfer on the banks of the River Thames in Oxfordshire. It takes pride in its inclusive approach which encourages men, ladies and juniors to play together whenever practicable. Currently membership stands at approximately 500 members.
The course, designed by former Ryder Cup Captain Brian Hugget, is a 6470 yard par72 parkland course and offers a good test to the better golfer without disadvantaging the higher handicapper. All greens are built to USGA specifications and as a result we never use temporary greens during the year and a rarely closed. There is an excellent short-game practice area, including both putting and chipping areas as well as a practice bunker and practice range.
The competitive calendar offers monthly medals both at week-ends and mid-week; monthly Stablefords open to all members; singles, pairs and mixed knockouts and a number of annual competitions, such as the Club Champi-onship and Captains’ Day. We also have a full programme of weekend and mid-week club matches against other clubs in the area.
Members can book up to 2 weeks in advance of playing. The Pro Shop offers a wide range of equipment and clothing for sale. In addition, trolleys and buggies are available for hire. Lessons are available from our club Professionals.
The Georgian Clubhouse which has been extended to include a magnificent balcony overlooking the 18th Green, provides a friendly and hospitable environment in which to unwind after playing the course. For members, a 10% discount is given on all drinks when using the Club loyalty card, and a varied menu of snacks and meals is offered at reasonable prices.
